Why subscribe?

Teaching in America has been getting a little dicey for a while. This is especially true for queer educators. With all the book bans, CRT hysteria, drag queen panic, and legislation such as Florida’s “Don’t say Gay” bill, LGBTQ+ teachers have had a bull’s eye placed on their backs.

After twenty years as an early childhood educator I’ve decided to share some of my stories of navigating a long, successful career educating small children as a queer Latino man. With a little bit of irreverence and some heart, I hope to encourage all those maestos and maestras in the world working harder than they probably should.

Dave Chappelle in one of his comedy specials referred to queer people as The Alphabet People in a somewhat snide dismissal of some of the complaints against his over-fascination with us. But as a kindergarten teacher I couldn’t have been more proud of such claiming such a moniker. Schools need more of us Alphabet People. Subscribe now.
